About This Item
Tours : A. Mame et Cie, 1861. Sixieme Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Attractively embossed and gilt decorated hardcover binding with covers and spine showing ornate patterning and colour flowers. Rubbed and slightly edge-worn, nonetheless showing very well indeed. Contents sound and tight; no pen-marks and no defects save some tanning and a few feint old tape marks at the endpapers. Size: 185mm x 115mm. Pages: 223. Complete with frontispiece and an extra engraved title-page. Joseph Jacquard was an 18th-century Merchant best known for his developments in the weaving business. His life has been recounted by numerous historians, including Laurent Voivreuil, who in the mid-19th-century wrote this French edition which was published in Tours. The title translated is: 'Jacquard, or, the Lyon Worker'. Thus a nice presentable copy in very good condition.
