Front page photograph General Nobile, the Italian Arctic explorer who piloted what is considered to be the first aircraft to reach the North Pole, taken on the deck of the ship 'President Taft', with the caption: "On the left is Miss Louise Willis, a Shanghai girl, General Nobile is in the centre and Mr. Gordon Felts on the right. The picture was taken on the President Taft when the General was en route to Japan to supervise construction of an airship for that country". Photo 4 x 3 1/2". Numerous articles on the surrender of Tientsin to Nationalist forces in China. "Northern Forces decide on peaceful surrender of Tientsin to Nationalists; Nanking Gives Future Policy and Manifesto; Mukden Residents in Panic over Series of Bombings; Outrages laid to Chinese". Front and last page of the folio newspaper. Toned, split at fold lines, triangular piece from upper right corner torn but present (not affecting text).
