XIV, 206 pp., plus black and white plates with 628 illustrations, tipped-in color frontispiece. Vol. 2: Plates 629 - 1333, black and white, with 705 illustrations, tipped-in color frontispiece. The classic two-volume set. A standard reference work for many years, this edition is about a third longer than the 1932 and '36 editions, and is the first to contain a wealth of illustrations, arranged in chronological and systematic order.
