Dover Publications, 1966. Soft cover. Very Good. 367 pages. First Dover edition of Randolph T. Weaver's translation, published 1929 by George G. Harrap & Co., of the 1924 study of Commedia dell' Arte. Subtitled: "The Improvisation - Scenarios - Lives - Attributes - Portraits and Masks of the Illustrious Characters of the Commedia dell' Arte." With index, bibliography, new pictorial supplement. The list of illustrations is six and a half pages long, as the 259 b&w reproductions appear throughout the book, both cuts and full-page. 8" x 10-3/4" paperback, spine sunned and rubbed along edges, light shelf wear, edges/end papers age-toned with a bit of light foxing. One date circled on copyright page, no other marks observed. Laid-in is a newspaper clipping - 1991 review of two other books on the Comedia dell' Arte.
