About This Item

Promontory Press, New York, 1975. First Edition. Hardcover. Ex Library/Good. Illustrator: Photographic And Illustrations. 1.155 kg.; XIV, 15-192 pages, introduction by author, acknowledgements and index. Yellow coloured endpapers. The text is illustrated with numerous contemporary black-and-white photographs and illustrations, a lot of photographs being of the native people, especially the chiefs and warriors. Brown coloured boards with gilt titles to the backstrip. Rubbing to the book edges. Colour illustrated dustwrapper with black and brown titles to the front panel and backstrip. Creasing to the dustwrapper edges. Some fading to the dustwrapper panels. This book is an ex-library book and has the faults of the same -- original high school rubber stamp and cancellations stamp on the title page, lower edge of the rear free and paper and the library pocket is still in situ but the "due date" page has been torn out. On the rear dustwrapper panel, on the plastic, the bar code from the high school has been placed which has been scrubbed out in black marker. A history of the Texas Rangers from its inception to the time of writing the book. It shows the myth of the Texas Ranger was actually based on fact, that they were in fact a "...hard-riding, straight-shooting, tough law men of legend" -- from the front fold over panel blurb. Showing numerous contemporary photographs of both law men and bad men, the Indians and that they fought and of the weapons they all used. Size: 4to 9¾" - 12" tall.
