About This Item
"Nine Hundred And Fifty Copies Of "Hits and Misses" Have Been Printed by Eugene V. Connett at The Derrydale Press. This Copy Is Number [110] [signed by] Paul Brown." 53 unnumbered leaves [= 106 pages] of illustrations & commentary by Paul Brown. "This sketch book is the result of many hours of close concentration along the boards and at the picket lines of many polo fields. Each drawing... is a matter of record... for I have entered anything at all unusual which occurred in the course of each afternoon's sport. ...credit is given the man who thought quickly or who had the ability to execute a brilliant piece of work." As a young horse-crazy fan of Paul Brown (Crazy Quilt!) I may remark that his sketches are true to the nature of both horse & human. Bound in now-yellow & scuffed boards with black & blue front-cover illustration; black buckram spine lettered in gold; minor water-marks around inner cover edges not intruding into text; internally clean; marks on both front & rear covers indicate adherence to tight-packed neighbors. Withal Good Plus; no dust jacket. A lovely gift for any horse enthusiast. Stock#ofc0509.
