New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1989. First U.S. edition, first printing. Hardcover. 307 pages. A terrific novel from the author of "Flaubert's Parrot" and the Booker Prize winning "The Sense of Ending." A clean very near fine copy in paper covered boards with a cloth spine and in a near fine dust jacket with some very minute wear. Signed by Barnes on the title page.
Synopsis
Julian Barnes was born in Leicester in 1946 and educated in London and Oxford. He worked as a lexicographer on the Oxford English Dictionary, then as a journalist for the New Statesman, the Sunday Times and the Observer. He is the author of eight novels, a collection of essays, a book of short stories, and is the first Englishman to have won both the Prix Medicis and the Prix Femina. In 1988 he was made a Chevalier and in 1995 he became an Officier de L'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.

All books noted as First Editions are also First Printings unless indicated otherwise. Books are returnable for any reason within 10 days provided they are returned in the same condition they were sent.
