Collated, complete. The marriage and joint rule of Queen Isabella I of Castile (r. 14741504) and King Ferdinand II of Aragon (r. 14791516) marked the de facto unification of Spain. In this work, the American historian and Hispanist William Hickling Prescott (1796-1859) explores their reign. He starts by giving a view of the Castilian monarchy before the fifteenth century, and then discusses, among other topics: the war of succession, the culture and administration of Castille, the war of Granada, Christopher Columbus, the expulsion of Jews from Spain, the attempted assassination of Ferdinand, the Italian wars, and the deaths of Isabella and Ferdinand. With prefaces to the various editions. Pages are bright and clean except for the odd spot to the first and last couple of pages. Small closed tear to the title page of Volume III, not affecting the text. Very Good
