Blue cloth with gilt spine lettering, dust jacket. xxxv, 366pp. 17 full-page illustrations. Near fine/very good. Jacket spine a bit age toned, else superb. Outstandingly tight 'n' bright first of this scholarly edition, being also the first volume of the Institute of Early American History and Culture. First published in London in 1705 and qualified by Wright Howes as "the first account of this colony, the first one penned by a native and the best contemporary record of its aboriginal tribes and of the life of its early settlers," this fine edition reproduces the original title page, frontispiece and all 15 of the original woodblock illustrations. HOWES B 410 note.
