Contemporary full tree calf, gilt tooled borders to covers, gilt dentelles, gilt titles to spine on red morocco labels with gilt tooled compartments. Marbled endpapers. With copper engraved vignette portraits throughout. Vol. I: viii, 384 + [23], Index. Vol. II: 420 + [28] Index. Vol. III: pp. 454 + [22] Index. Vol. IV: pp. 412, + [23] index. Previous owners' names, initials, to first blank and half title, Vol I. A pretty binding, now somewhat tired, joints rubbed, occasional scuff marks, minor loss to head of spines of vols I, III, and IV. Still a sound set, pages tight and free of marks.
