Bancroft put these two territories together into one book because they are basically the of the same type of land and people but he treated both separately with each territory different in their natural history, climate and the riches each hold. A beautiful copy not usually found in such nice condition, bound in brown cloth decoratively stamped in blind, spine gilt. Virtually no wear save for very minute spots of rubbing. An exceptional copy.

Description:
D. Appleton and Company, 1875-1883. Leather. Poor - Cash/No Jacket. All volumes are a tan leather with black rectangles on the spine. The title and number of each volume is in gold within each of these rectangles. No editions are given for any of the volumes. Vol. 1-3 are from 1875. Vol. 4 appears to be from a different set, but should still hold the same contents as the original fourth volume. The full title for Vol. 4 is: 'Bancroft's Works Vol. IV; Native Races Vol. IV: Antiquities' and is from 1883. All volumes have heavy surface and edge wear to their covers. There's soiling and staining to the covers. Their corners have been bumped, and the boards are showing in the corners as well as in various places along the edges. All volumes have the previous owners' names inside. Pages all show reader wear and have some staining. All pages are yellowing from age. There are cracks in the spines throughout all volumes.
