About This Item

New York; (1988): Seaver Books. First Edition. Octavo. 529 [1] pages. Inscribed by the author to Cherly Lavin: "in appreciation of her interest and hope of future meetings, Jerzy Kosinski, Chicago, July 8, 1988." She would later interview him for the Chicago Tribune and asked him if his work was basically autobiographical. He answered her that he only exposed what he wanted people to know, the rest was buried deep within. Her column Tales From the Front was a long-running account of the battle tales in the issues of love with her readers whether single, married, or anywhere else along the spectrum. Kosky is a spiritual friend of Kafka, Nabokov, and especially, of Conrad, those great Eastern European moderns who shared his exile. For, as we come to realize, any writer--or artist, or historical figure--who has suffered rejection or public disgrace, or been misunderstood by his audience. In 1991 he committed suicide. A fine bright copy bound in black paper covered boards backed in red cloth, spine lettering silver, in a beautiful near fine dust jacket with small imprint of paper clip.
