Stephen Medvey. 8vo, beige cloth with black lettering and red & green floral framing stamped on spine and front cover, archival polyester-protected pictorial colored dust jacket (unclipped) depicting a Hawaiian mother and son overlooking Honolulu Bay & Diamond Head with an aircraft carrier and planes flying, illustrated by Stephen Medvey with several full-page two-tone black & brown images & more in-text; pictorial light green wallpaper endpapers depicting Hawaiian scenes, 183 pages. Oscar Lewis (1893 - 1992) was one of the first authors and historians to write seriously about the literary, cultural and social history of the American West, early California, and Hawaii. [He is not to be confused with the American anthropologist who studied poverty.]<br/><br/>Generally SUPERIOR COPY: Tight, unmarked, with light age-toning. The dust jacket is bright with chipping mainly to the head and foot of its spine. Hard to get a better copy for this printing made during the Korean War.
