About This Item

New York, New York, U.S.A.: Crown Pub, 1998. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. A young FBI agent tracks down an elusive, sinister group known as the Hammer of Eden. Stated first edition. First printing with correct full number line sequence. Save for a name and notation on the front free endpaper and some very, very light soiling to the textblock edges, this is a very clean copy with no writing, marks, underlining, or bookplates. No remainder marks. Not an ex-library copy. Spine is tight and crisp. Boards are flat and true, and the corners are square. The first 30 pages or so are creased along the upper outside corners. There also seems to be some slight moisture damage to the lower 1/2" of the front and back boards. This also has affected the inside of the dust jacket, where it is more apparent and extends for an inch or so. This is not readily noticeable from the outside of the book. Dust jacket is not price-clipped but also has some soiling and scuffing to the back cover as well as some minor edge wear. This collectible, very good/very good, first edition/first printing copy is protected with an archival mylar dust jacket cover. Satisfaction guaranteed!

Synopsis

When controversial radio talk host John Truth broadcasts a terrorist threat of a man-made earthquake, few people take it seriously. Crackerjack young FBI agent Judy Maddox is assigned to track down the elusive, sinister group called the "Hammer of Eden."Judy's boss, who has a grudge against her, thinks he has given her a waste-of-time assignment. But Judy's research leads her to maverick seismologist Michael Quercus, who gives her the shocking news that it might just be possible for an earthquake to be deliberately triggered. And when a tremor in a remote California desert shows evidence of being machine-generated, Judy knows the threat is terrifyingly real. Suddenly in charge of a life-or-death investigation, Judy must pinpoint the terrorists' next target, with the help of the erratic but attractive Michael. Their compelling romantic drama is played out as they race to beat the terrorist deadline and prevent an unthinkable disaster.
