London: Robert Dighton, 1792. Stiff Wraps. Orig. colored colored engraving. Near fine. 29.5 x 23.5 cm. Colored engraving drawn and etched by R. Dighton. Signed by Stephen Kemble in red ink (faint) lower left corner of imprint. George Stephen Kemble (21 April 1758 - 5 June 1822) was a successful English theatre manager, actor, and writer, and a member of the famous Kemble family. His sister Sarah Siddons, a famous actress. He managed the original Theatre Royal, Newcastle for fifteen years (1791-1806). Tiny nicks at head and foot outside image area. Robert Dighton's early work was issued anonymously, but by the early 1790s it became increasingly well known and he began etching and publishing under his own name, and his success allowed him to open a shop in Charing Cross. Bright, clean print.
