London: Kegan Paul, Trench, Trubner, 1902 First edition. Appears to have been signed in pencil by the author on back endpapers. HB. Attractive grey pictorial cloth with gilt title to spine, and green printed title to front with block printed scene of trees and sheep in green and black. No dustjacket, probably as issued. 230pp. With colour plate frontispiece from painting, tissue-guarded , and 14 b&w plates reproducing paintings, as well as line engraved vignettes at end of each chapter. The author's account of her move to live in a cottage in a traditional country village in Hampshire, with chapters on her garden, village life and people, and rural labourers. Very Good. Bright clean covers with light wear to edges, tiny crease to to front corner. Pages have occasional light browning and marks, heavier browning to prelims and closed edges.
