"Justice is seldom done the Church of Elizabeth Tudor. Contemporary Puritan and Romanist opponents perceived little virtue in a Reformation settlement which suffered in the eyes of each by its manifest affinities with the other, and, unlike either, was tailored out of materials almost wholly English.
