Large, thick sturdy book, quality gray cloth, very bright gilt lettering on spine, 592 pages with some small illustrations throughout. DJ has cream background with two illustrations on front of water birds and a tropical island, small illustrations of animals on spine and back with praise from Edward O. Wilson, Darcy Fry and others. DJ has very tiny tear at top front edge near tip and at spine bottom right corner, a crease at top back tip. Near Fine DJ/Very Fine book.
