Gilt to spine rubbed, bright to upper cover, covers very lightly soiled. Very light foxing to fore-edge of text block, text and plates bright and clean, two plates creased to corners. Complete with twenty-five tissue guarded tipped in plates. Limited edition of 250 copies, this being copy 67, signed by the illustrator Sidney Meteyard. Signed by Illustrator. First Edition. Full Vellum. Good+/No Jacket. Illus. by Meteyard, Sidney H.. 4to.

London: Hodder and Stoughton Limited. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket as Issued. Sidney H Mageyard. ca 1910. A stout copy with all the tipped in coloured illustrations and their uncreased tissues. Binding and hinges sound. A little tanning to endpapers and previous owner's name. Slight bowing to original green cloth boards. The gilt titles and ornamentation are bright. Spine stout with very little wear and no tears to head, foot or edges. A very handsome, sound copy.

Beautiful edition of The Golden Legend by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in the original publisher's decorative cloth binding. Illustrated with twenty five colour chromolithographs with tissue guards by Sidney Meteyard. Collated, complete. Meteyard was an English painter and stained glass designer. Longfellow was a nineteenth century American poet best known for his works 'Paul Revere's Ride' and 'Evangeline'. With gilt to the front board and spine. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, very smart. There is some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. The hinges are slightly strained. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with the occasional spot. The tissue guards are present and intact. Very Good
