Norman: University of Oklahoma Press, 1943. First Edition. Octavo. 287p. index. Illustrated by Harold D. Bugbee. The legendary cowman-banker whose career ranged from riding with Terry's Texas Rangers to becoming a major for gallantry at Mossy Creek. He trailed longhorns to Kansas, opened huge ranges in the Panhandle and learned how to also operate as a successful banker. He devoted a fortune in building up the University of Texas and along the way wrote a marvelous history of the South. Bound in beige cloth, pictorial spine in green and gilt, in unclipped pictorial dust jacket. Near fine.
