About This Item

Philadelphia: The Author. Very Good. 1904. Third Edition. Hardcover. The author was a Philadelphia physician, and appears to have self-published this book--his business card is affixed to the inner lower corner of the title page. This is the third, revised and enlarged edition in which he covers a variety of topics including drug addition, cancer, hernia, tape worms, tobacco addiction, etc. and also provides cures for many ailments (some under "Secret Systems Exposed"). An interesting early account of medical treatments available at the beginning of the twentieth century. There are a few whitish streaks to the rear cover. The is a previous owner name in pencil on the front paste down and a small physician name and stamp on the front end paper, else a nice clean, tight book. There are a few b&w photos and illustrations. Original black cloth covers with bright silver spine and cover lettering; the perimeter of the cover has decorative debossed rules.; B&W Illustrations; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 367 pages .
