First edition / first printing in Near Fine condition with lightly bumped head and tail of spine, rubbing to upper and lower edges in Good clipped dust jacket with sunned spine, rubbing at all creases and along upper and lower edges, and a crudely repaired lateral tear at top back upper edge; General Henry Atkinson was born in 1811 in Ohio. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1834 and fought in the Mexican-American War. He served in the Oregon Territory and the Oregon Civil War. In 1871, he became the military governor of the Philippines. He retired from the Army in 1877.; B & W Illustrations and Photographs; 8vo ; 243 pages .
