Frontisplate + titlepage vignette + full page pictorial dedicatio + 1 fullpage plate + 10 text illustrations + 48 text illustrations +7 multi folding plates + 6 full-page plates Engravings by J.A. Delsenbach & Andreas Nunzer.. 2 VOLUMES IN ONE Octavo half tan leather on 5 raised bands with spine label [edges worn/head and foot chipped to headbands but mostly sound] 276pp + errata leaf followed by blank leaf. Page count includes frontispiece and title. 2nd work 360pp [recounted 366 as Leaves 63a &63b + Pages 64a-d but No.129/130 are skipped but catch word follows correctly and page number 145-6 are used twice. A neat clean copy from the Library of the Dukes of Gotha with stamp and also deaccession as a duplicate copy to verso of printed titlepage and shelf place to pastedown. The margin of the frontispiece is somewhat browned else a clean crisp copy with nicely spaced typography using many different fonts and many decorated initials and tailpiece decorations. Generally in black letter for the first volume and Roman for the 2nd volume which is not in German but in Latin. There is also italic sections and even the Sepulchral Monuments which have part of the inscriptions in both red and black to distinquish those letters on the tomb that were illegible but here completed. An illustration of the tomb of Emperor Leopold I (1658-1705) is included in a foldout on p 263. *This book is dedicated to various ceremonies of the Holy Roman Imperial court (as well as other European courts), including the death of Emperor Joseph I in 1711 and the ascencion of Charles VI that same year. The Swedish born Heraeus also notes the death of Swedish King Charles XII in 1718 on p301, of whom he offers the eulogy "Charles the 12th king of the Swedes, Goths, and Vandals, in the war brought on by the most powerful nations, and abandoning all hope in arms, enumerate the deeds of the Count's fortune, and the public memorials".
