Second printing of this work, published first in 1905. A charming tale by Alfred Austin celebratory of gardens and gardening. Alfred Austin was an English poet, Poet Laureate in 1896, mostly known for his prose idylls celebrating nature, such as the present. Illustrated edition with charming coloured plates by George S. Elgood. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear, minor bumping to head and tail of spine and extremities, lightly soiled to boards and spine. Previous owner's gift inscription to front free endpaper, dated 1906. Internally, firmly bound. Few minor spots to the occasional page, otherwise pages generally bright and clean. With full page coloured plates by George S. Elgood. Very Good
