About This Item

New York, NY McClure, Phillips, 1902. Hardcover First Edition (1902), so stated. First Edition (1902), so stated. Good+: Shows evidence of careful use: the major flaw here is insect damage along the front hinge, the bottom edge of both panels, the heel of the backstrip, the bottom of the rear hinge, and at the interior gutters. This has weakened the front hinge somewhat, though it seems to be holding strong. The rear hinge is stronger. The top gilt top edge is heavily dusted. Some dulling to the backstrip, but the gilt titles thereon remain quite legible, just not as bright as those on the front panel. Former owner's attractive, vintage book plate at the front pastedown endpaper. The binding remains square; the text is clean. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. (7.8 x 5.4 x 1.3 inches). xi, 448 pages. Crimson cloth over boards. Blind-stamped designs at the front panel and backstrip. Untrimmed Fore-edge and bottom edge. Most pages uncut. Language: English. Weight: 1 pound, 8.5 ounces. Hardback: No DJ 'as issued'.
