Brown called himself "architect and professor of perspective" dedicated his book to Soane, and seems to have been a friend of Soane's draughtsman Gandy. He exhibited at the Royal Academy 1804-1828, showing a design for Regent's park in 1812 and military buildings for the Gold Coast in 1818. Re-spined in brown calf with decorative panels with red morrocco title panel.
