New York: Alfred A. Knopf. Very Good in Very Good+ dust jacket. 1990. First American Edition. Hardcover. 0394584422 . 276 p. 22 cm. Signed by Author Sound and square binding in paper-covered boards, with a cloth-backed spine. Spine very slightly cocked. Minor edge and corner wear. The cloth is lightly faded at the ends. Light bend line to spine cloth but likely bound like that, as opposed to a crease from reading. Top edge of the text block has a hint of dust. The front free endpaper has an offsetting mark, where something was once taped to it. Two light sticker marks where the tape was removed. The inside pages are clean and unmarked (except for author's signature). Dust jacket has some light edge wear and shelf rubbing with light scratches. It is not price clipped. A collection of stories by the noted Canadian author and winner of a Nobel Prize for Literature. Flat-signed by Alice Munro on the half title page. .

Synopsis

Alice Munro grew up in Wingham, Ontario, and attended the University of Western Ontario. She has published thirteen collections of stories as well as a novel, Lives of Girls and Women, and two volumes of Selected Stories. During her distinguished career she has been the recipient of many awards and prizes, including three of Canada’s Governor General’s Literary Awards and two of its Giller Prizes, the Rea Award for the Short Story, the Lannan Literary Award, England’s W. H. Smith Book Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award, and the Man Booker International Prize. In 2013 she was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. Her stories have appeared in The New Yorker, The Atlantic Monthly, The Paris Review, Granta, and other publications, and her collections have been translated into thirteen languages. She lives in Clinton, Ontario, near Lake Huron.
