About This Item

Hanging has run like a dark thread through British history, from the first records after the Norman invasion up until the final sanctioned hangings in 1964. Potter examines the gruesome facts, the circumstances surrounding executions, and the changing national attitudes towards capital punishment. Potter writes an excellent and compelling account , a social commentary on a darkly fascinating part of British history.

Book is in excellent condition. Pages are intact, clear and bright with no foxing, inscriptions, tears or creases. A brown strip appears on front and back endpapers (see photos). Cloth covers are clean and tight. The dust jacket is unclipped and complete with only the most minor of general wear and some rubbing on the back cover. All now protected with a professional clear removable book cover. 196 pp with B&W plates and bibliography
