About This Item
Vintage. Softcover. Very Good. Far from the Madding Crowd" (ISBN: 9780345804006): "Far from the Madding Crowd" is a classic novel by Thomas Hardy that tells the story of Bathsheba Everdene, an independent and headstrong woman, and her romantic entanglements with three very different men: Gabriel Oak, William Boldwood, and Sergeant Francis Troy. Set in the pastoral landscape of rural England, the novel explores themes of love, desire, fate, and the complexities of human relationships. Hardy's vivid descriptions of the countryside and his nuanced character portrayals make this a timeless work of literature. "Far from the Madding Crowd" is a compelling tale of passion and the consequences of choices made in matters of the heart. Crisp, clean, unread book with some shelfwear/edgewear. May have remainder marks, often with a black dot or similar mark, to the top or bottom edge of the book.
Synopsis
Far from the Madding Crowd (1874) is Thomas Hardy's fourth novel and his first major literary success. It originally appeared, anonymously, as a monthly serial in Cornhill Magazine, where it gained a wide readership; critical notices, too, were plentiful and mostly positive. Hardy revised the text extensively for the 1895 edition, and made further changes for the 1901 edition.
