First Edition in unclipped original dust jacket. Translated by Audrey Salkeld. Clean orange cloth boards with bright gold lettering on spine. No bumping or fraying. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound - no cracking. Beautifully illustrated endpapers; 4-digit number written in ink at top corner of front pastedown; same number and a card sleeve is on one of the preliminary pages. All other pages an text block edges are clean. Illustrated with maps, awesome photographs in full color and black & white. 254 pages. Clean jacket is not price clipped, unchipped, slight fading at upper edge of rear panel. Enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. In May 1978 Reinhold Messner became the firt man in history to climb Mount Everet without the use of artificial oxygen--an event that made international headlines and permanently altered the future of climbling..
