Brown. ESTC citation number T107031. Part II has a separate tile page, pagination, and register.Volume II, containing Part III, the third edition of this work published in 1720 by George Strahan. ESTC citation number T137150. 'St Gregory Nazianzen's Oration in Commendation of the Maccabees' with a drop head title, and separate pagination and register, including an essay 'Of Discontent' to pages 65-108. 'An Essay Upon Gaming' with a separate title page, pagination, and register. Three pages of publisher's adverts.Volume III, containing Part IV, the first edition of this work published in 1709 by W. B. for S. Keeble. ESTC citation number T109903.Collier was a theatre critic and theologian. His essays were immensely popular when first published, but are now little read.Dorothea Bateman's ink inscription to the head of the title pages. In a full calf binding. Externally, generally smart. Some light rubbing and marks to the boards and spines. Lacking the spine labels. Light bumping to the spines and extremities, a small amount of loss to the head and tail of the spines. Small cracks to the joints. Loss of leather to the front joint of Volume I. Front hinge of Volume II is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with some spots. Prior owner's ink inscription to the head of the title pages. Pages of 'An Essay Upon Gaming' are repaired to the tail, not loss to the text. Good
