First edition of Agee's first book. Slim octavo. 59 pp. Green cloth, lettered in dark green at spine. The paper is very lightly age-browned at perimeters, and the cloth is sunned a bit at spine and along the top-edge of boards, else fine. In a near-fine green dust jacket which is sunned at spine and shows light wear along the top-edge, with a few closed tears.

London: Smith, Elder & Co, 1907. Octavo. In two volumes, 748pp., 786pp., portraits, handsomely bound in full brown morocco, raised bands, lettering gilt, morocco turn-in, all edges gilt. Small bump to last few leaves of volume one otherwise a fine bright set. From the library of a Wedgwood family member with gift inscription dated 1908. A very nice set.

Harrison Fisher, the "Historian of American Beauty," was an American illustrator whose works regularly appeared on the cover of 'Cosmopolitan' Magazine in the early 1900s.

By reason of his industry and because of the uniform soundness of his drawings and color sense, he is the acknowledged master of the pretty girl picture"(Cosmopolitan).
This first edition of the book 'A Dream of Fair Women' is filled with romantic full-color illustrations of the "Fisher Girl" type. The illustrations are inspired from the text of famous poems decorated in Art Nouveau style by E. Stetson Crawford. A fine piece!

Tight and nice first edition of this scarce and influential volume of Blake criticism, which did for interest in Blake what Raymond Weaver's biography of Herman Melville ("Herman Melville: Man, Mariner and Mystic," 1921) did a few years earlier for interest in that neglected writer. This exceptional copy bears a choice presentation inscription from the author in blue fountain pen on the front flyleaf: "To Mark Turbyfill / who is one of the very few / who should know what I / was trying to get at. / S.
