British Institute of Embalmers, London, 1949. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Illustrator: Illustrated. dedication, and index. Olive coloured cloth covered boards with gilt embossed titles to the front panel. The text is illustrated with anatomical drawings, in two colours, and the occasional table. A book put out by the British Institute of Embalmers about the practicalities and techniques of embalming the human body. It gives a brief rundown about the arterial and venous system of the human body, the various medical terms that an embalmer may run across, and various diseases / conditions that cause death, and then practical advice on embalming a body. There is a small section devoted to the process of embalming of a child's body. Softening, fraying and some rubbing to the head and to the heel of the backstrip and to the book corners. Rubbing to the lower book edges and there is flecking along the edges of the front board and to the backstrip. Some marks and some rubbing to the book panels. Browning and some staining to the textblock edges, though surprisingly light age toning of the internal pages. Previous owners name to the top right-hand corner of the free front end paper.
