Oxford: Oxford University Press, 1977. Some creasing and a few small tears to edges of unclipped dustwrapper, minor bumping to spine ends of gray boards, previous owners gift message on f/ep dated 1980, possibly from the editior (... from all the Barkers...), but otherwise a good clean tight copy of this slim hard-cover book. Originally written in 1947 but never published, the author's account of his first twenty-eight years, from his childhood in Newburgh, working in the North of Scotland Bank in Aberdeen and later in Edinburgh until 1911 when he resigned to become a full-time artist. He was well-known for his etchings and later as a painter in water-colour and oils. 131pp, 16pp b&w illustrations.. Hard Cover. Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
