Leigh-on-Sea: F Lewis (Publishers) Limited, 1937. Unclipped dustwrapper is in quite bad condition, with two large tears to top left and bottom right corners of front panel, a piece missing at top left corner of same, also wear and creasing to the edges. Minor bumping to spine ends and corners of red boards, some foxing to outer pages, but otherwise a good clean tight copy of this hard-cover book. Originally published in 1933, this is a later "Cheap Edition" from 1937. Looks at the British Empire Panels by Welsh artist Frank Brangwyn, originally commissioned for the Royal Gallery of the House of Lords but rejected by their lordships for being too colourful. Two clean tight black card-covered brochures in similar white card folder, issued for the 1988 exhibition at the Nederlands Textielmuseum of the work of Ulf Moritz and Benno Premsela. Some creasing and a few small tears to edges of unclipped dustwrapper, minor bumping to spine ends of gray boards, previous owners gift message on f/ep dated 1980, possibly from the editior (... from all the Barkers...), but otherwise a good clean tight copy of this slim hard-cover book. Originally written in 1947 but never published, the author's account of his first twenty-eight years, from his childhood in Newburgh, working in the North of Scotland Bank in Aberdeen and later in Edinburgh until 1911 when he resigned to become a full-time artist.
