About This Item

Hardcover with dust jacket, published by Alfred A. Knopf, 1949. The dust jacket is intact and is not price clipped. This is a 'First and Second Printing Before Publication' copy. The dust jacket has been protected with a clear, removable cover, so there is very little wear beside a dot of rubbing to the left of the word 'The' of the title, and a small chip at the back left corner about 1/4 inch across. Jacket cover had been taped to the boards with narrow strips of masking tape, leaving discoloration residue marks of adhesive on the front board, the tape is still present on the back boards. 496 pages, rough edged text block pages. Edges of the text block are clean. Reddish-orange colored boards with the title and author name in black on the spine within a black rectangle. All lettering on the spine is crisp and not rubbed or worn. Corners of the boards are not bumped or creased. Minor dots of edge wear to the boards at the head and heel of the spine and at the tips of the corners. This is the epic story of the founding of a film studio, a classic 'rags-to-riches' story, somewhat based on Robbins own experiences working at Universal Studios. Nice vintage dust jacket, with illustration by George Salter. This copy is not a library discard, not a remainder. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages. Attached photo is of the copy we have in our inventory, not a stock photo.

About Hopkins Books

We're a small, independent, family run book seller specializing in current fiction and non-fiction, with an emphasis on Art, Art History, History, Memoirs, Travel Memoirs, Signed First Editions, and Literature in Translation.Do you have any questions about our books ? Let us know, we'd love to hear from you! Do you want to see a photo of a book before you order it ? We try to post as many photos as possbiel, but sometimes there will be a item in inventory that does not show a photo here. So feel free to ask for photos, we don't mind at all. We package all of our orders carefully either in a box that has been designed to ship books, or in a padded envelope. We want to make sure you receive your order in the best possible condition! Our preferred shipping method is USPS Media Mail. Recently, the USPS has added tracking to Media Mail , which has been a great addition to this service. If you do choose to have your order shipped "Expedited", my shipping cost may seem higher than expected. Some of our books are large format hardcovers that can cost quite a bit when shipped expedited. So I would like to make sure that I can cover the cost upfront. However, if the actual cost of expedited shipping is less than the charge, I will refund the difference!
