London: Longmans, Green and Co, 1909. Limited Edition. Hardcover. #372 OF 500 NUMBERED COPIES. Folio, measuring 11x15 inches. Hardcover, bound with white cloth spine and blue paper-covered boards, titled in gilt. Good condition. Covers show minor soiling and shelf wear and the entire book has a slight warp to it. Convent name and bookplate on front endpapers. Text is clean, tight, and unmarked. Deluxe edition of St. John Henry Cardinal Newman's classic poem. Includes a full version in normal type along with a photographic reproduction of the original manuscripts. Newman wrote the poem in 1855 shortly after his conversion to the Catholic faith. It is essentially a version of Dante's Divine Comedy with the soul traveling from Death to Purgatory and Paradise.
