Near Fine book in About Fine unclipped DJ w/trace edgewear, light soil rear panel, now in clear protective cover. Boards of book, especially spine, rubbed (impinging on the last "d" in "Macdonald"). Author's PERSONAL COPY, SIGNED BY AUTHOR on title page, AND INCLUDING AUTHOR'S HOLOGRAPHIC ANNOTATIONS WITH CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY, stating that the book was purchased from Macdonald's own library. Quite a find for the serious Ross Macdonald collector. A Lew Archer mystery, set in southern California. 251pp.

Synopsis

Ross Macdonald's real name was Kenneth Millar. Born near San Francisco in 1915 and raised in Ontario, Millar returned to the U.S. as a young man and published his first novel in 1944. He served as the president of the Mystery Writers of America and was awarded their Grand Master Award as well as the Mystery Writers of Great Britain's Gold Dagger Award. He died in 1983.
