1854. LEVER, Charles. THE DODD FAMILY ABROAD. With illustrations by Phiz. London: Chapman and Hall, 1854. First edition. Illustrated with forty plates by H. K. Brown ("Phiz"), including a vignette title. Octavo. [iii]-[xvi],624 pp. Bound in green leather, with gilt frames on sides, extra gilt on spine, a.e.g.; gilt inner dentelles and marbled endpapers, with an armorial bookplate on ffep. Plates are lightly toned and some are moderately foxed, affecting facing text pages. Text leaves are generally clean; though some show occasional light foxing, mostly just at the fore-edge. One leaf (p. 475-6) has slim loss in fore-margin; another (p. 607-8) has a small lacuna in text. Finely bound, it is a very good and handsome copy. (Wolff 4087).
