About This Item

London: Julia MacRae Books, 1989. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. This is the third book published in the "Quantocks Quartet". The interior of the book is clean and fresh, showing no marks or wear. The blue covers are clean with light wear at tips and corners. The silver gilt spine lettering is still bright. The dust jacket is not price-clipped, and is in very good condition. The colour on the spine has faded, but there are no tears or other damage. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover. Synopsis: Julia Purcell has always lived at home and somewhat in the shadow of her mercurial and gifted older sister, Frances. When World War I breaks out and her childhood sweetheart Geoffrey enlists, Julia begins to come out of her shell. She enlists as a VAD, and she and Geoffrey marry. "But it is not a time for plans and Julia's happiness is cruelly short-lived.
