Albany, NY: Erastus H. Pease, 1844., 1844.. Good. INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY WILLIAM B. SPRAGUE, D.D. - Octavo, softcover bound into printed cream-colored wraps with white cord. The wraps are chipped with tears to & pieces out of the spine. There are 3 small stains & some light soiling & foxing to the rear wrap. 56 pages. There is occasional chipping & minor foxing to the pages. Good.

First edition.

Inscribed and signed by the author on the front cover: "Rev. G. L. Boardman, with the affect regards of / W.B. Sprague."

William B. Sprague [1795-1876] was a clergyman, biographer and collector of autograph manuscripts. He was minister of the Congregational Church at West Springfield, Mass. and at the Second Presbyterian Church in Albany over a period of fifty years. "During this time he became one of the most widely known clergymen of his day, an able sermonizer, constantly called upon for addresses on special occasions [and] a scholar especially interested in history and biography." [DAB IX, 470].

Albany, NY: Gray, Sprague & Co., 1851., 1851.. Fair. INSCRIBED BY WILLIAM B. SPRAGUE - Octavo, softcover bound in printed tan wraps. The backstrip is chipped & torn with pieces out. The wraps are darkened & chipped with tears to the front wrap & a strip out of the front edge & bottom corner of the rear wrap. 60 pages. There are pieces out of the title page & last text page. There is light foxing to a few pages & some page corners are very lightly creased. Fair reading copy. Inscribed by William B. Sprague on the front wrap: "Rev. Dr. Ingles, / With the writer's kind regards." An additional remark "not to be noticed" is penned below the titling.
