Pasing: Heinrich F.S. Bachmair, 1923.. 1923.. Fine. PUBLISHED BY F.S. BACHMAIR WHO ALSO PUBLISHED THE IMPORTANT DADAIST JOURNAL "REVOLUTION" - Quarto, 11-1/4 inches high by 8-1/4 inches wide. Unbound sheets consisting of signatures with 32 deckle-edged pages, including blanks, beautifully printed within ample borders on fine watermarked paper. There are a few minor chips to the edges of a couple of leaves and one of the signatures is separating. A beautiful production. <p>Number 24 of a limited edition of 150 and XXX (i.e. 30 Roman numeral) numbered copies.<p>This handsomely printed work was published by Heirich F.S. Bachmair who also published an important Dadaist journal titled "Revolution".<p>Four brothers, the sons of an old woman, intent on attacking the Aachen cloister are overcome by the music played by the nuns. Their mother, on arriving to the city six years later finds them in the house for the insane where, incapable of caring for themselves, they spend their days as monks praying and singing the excelsis deo. The mystery deepens since the nun who was to conduct the orchestra the day of the impending attack was taken ill that day and no one is sure as to who did conduct the music heard by the sons. This short story by the German writer & dramatist Heinrich von Kleist was first published in the 1810 edition of his literary journal "Berliner Abendblatter".
