Harold Ivan Harding was born in Toronto 29 January 1883 and died at age 60 on 29 December 1943 at Te Puhapa, Mamáo, Tahiti. Entered British Consular Service in China in 1902 and served in various capacities until 1922 when he became Vice-Consul at Kashgar. His mother's family [Grace Elizabeth Lesslie], were related to the distinguished early Toronto booksellers Lesslie & Sons, York (Toronto), Dundas & Kingston (See Hulse).
