DESCRIPTION
(ii) + x + 389pp + (ii)
(ii) + vi + 402pp + (ii)
Books measure 220mm x 150mm approximately.
Nicely bound in period medium tan half calf over marbled boards. Spine with five gilt-ruled bands with elaborate gilt decoration and motifs to compartments, and twin russet title and author labels. Tissue-guarded portrait frontispiece to each volume. Top edges in gilt.
CONDITION
Both bindings are holding tight. The front boards of each volume are a little loose with early stage cracks but still holding quite firm. Boards exhibit some surface marks and small losses of leather to corners, also knocks and chips to edges with minor wear to hinges and board edges. Small ink notation and previous owner bookplate to front paste-down of each volume.
Internally the pages are complete and in very clean and bright condition throughout. There is only some moderate browning towards end-papers and paste-downs, but not serious and entirely age-related, and the occasional spot or mark. A few marks to page edges.
Overall, a very nice set of volumes indeed.
Please always refer to photo images for a clearer indication of condition.
We are always happy to provide further photo images if required.
NOTE : these are larger, slightly heavier books. Postage will reflect this, but at cost.
