David Livingstone was a Scottish physician, Congregationalist, and pioneer Christian missionary with the London Missionary Society, an explorer in Africa, and one of the most popular British heroes of the late 19th-century Victorian era.Containing eighteen illustrations, including a frontispiece portrait of the author and a facsimile signature. Containing a prize bookplate to the front pastedown: 'Sunday School, Parish of S. Mary, Leicester, Prize, Frederick Knight, H.V. Broughton, Vicar, Christmas 1889'. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart, with slight bumping and fading to the head and tail of spine as well as to the corners. Prize bookplate to the front pastedown, and slight offsetting to the front and rear free-endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages contain the odd spot or handling mark, as well as a small stain to the gutter on page 31, but otherwise pages bright and clean. Very Good
