About This Item

Signed. Professor of Archaeology at Iowa State, McKusick revisits the Davenport Conspiracy, a notorious case of archaeological fraud in late nineteenth century in Iowa. He relates the case in impressive detail, and puts it in the context of of the competitive world of similar scandals in 19th century scandals. McKusick does a good job of rejecting baseless exotic theories around supposed ancient migrations made infamous by many a well known book by non professional archaeologists. INSCRIBED by the author in a note to his neighbour on the title page.

An excellent copy. Pages are bright, clean and tidy. No marks, creases or browning. Cloth boards are tight and clean. DJ is unclipped and unmarked and almost looks as new. All now covered in professional clear removable book cover. 267pp with index, notes, references and B&W. See all photos thanks
