Hardcover Book and Jacket in Very Good Condition. Mylar jacket cover. Includes maps, some quite unique illustrations, and bibliography. Binding of black half cloth gilt tilted, black paper-wrapped boards; very clean and unmarked; lower corner of front board has slight indented diagonal crease line. Tight, solid, sewn binding. Interior is quite clean and free from any markings. Jacket clean, unmarked with slight edgewear, original price unclipped but has a white sticker over it. The story of three black kingdoms, the old, sixteenth-century kingdom of Congo, Dahomey, and Lesotho (Basutoland). Each of the three is shown at a critical point in its history, the period when they met white pressure head on. How they reacted to this pressure determined whether or not they survived. Only the last of the three now survive. 194 pages with Source Books and Index. 5.6 x 8.5 inches. William Morrow and Co., New York, 1975.
