New York: Alfred A Knopf, 1956. First American edition. Hardcover. Very Good/good. 5 1/4 x 8 1/4 in. xiv, 393 pgs, plus index. Green cloth boards with silver phoenix on cover and spine. Condition of book is VERY GOOD+ ; near fine except for faint fading along upper edge. Edges perfect, as is binding, a few pencil underlinings to text. Previous owner, prof Victor Lange's, bookplate on front pastedown. DJ condition is GOOD+ ; price-clipped, edges worn and slightly chipped, one small closed tear to top front, faint soiling but overall very clean and fresh. In new Mylar wrapper. Literary Criticism/fiction. RGR.
