New York: The Century Co, 1930. Hardcover. Complete 2-volume set. Foreword by William E. Dodd. Full green pebble-grain morocco with gilt spine lettering and rules, paper-over-board slipcases. x, 493pp; viii, 793pp. Top edges gilt. Tissue-guarded frontispiece, illustrations, foldouts. Fine/very good. Both slipcases slightly worn and faintly scuffed, else strong. Handsome, pristine, tight set of the De Luxe edition, limited to 1025 copies. Massive biography of the famed businessman and inventor of the mechanical reaper (1809-84), the first volume subtitled "Seed-Time, 1809-1856" and the second volume "Harvest, 1856-1884." Quite scarce and an outstanding pair in superb condition with giltstamping bright.
