With 18 of the 21 engraved portraits, including a frontispiece of Elizabeth I, but lacking Sir Francis Walsingham, Sir Francis Knowles, and Lord Brooke. Publisher's blue / grey cloth with gilt titles to spine. All edges untirmmed. Armorial bookplate to front pastedown. Fly-leaf cancelled. Light toning and a tobacco scent. Moderate wear to binding, with a repair to head of spine. Lacking three plates. Good. A short popular account of the reign of Elizabeth I, with biographies of her principal ministers, first published posthumously in 1641.
